Water Supply
The following
is an extract from a parish magazine of August 1896. 'Wednesday,
23rd July 1896 is a day to be remembered as the date of the opening
of the ground at Carr House Bridge, the boundary between Hoole and
Bretherton, for the commencement of our system for a public water
supply. Since that date the pipes have been laid across the parish
of Bretherton and they are now rapidly proceeding through the parish
of Tarleton in the direction of Hesketh.'
Before this villagers
were dependant on wells for water; one was in Coe Lane between the
Rectory and the old church. |
