July - The Annual General Meeting
of the club will take place in the cricket
pavilion at Station Road on Monday 25th
July at 8pm. All members will have been
informed and any prospective members are
welcome. |

July - With Graham Peters resigning
from his post as 1st team manager the club
are pleased to announce that Andy Cope has
been appointed to replace him for the new
season. The club would like to thank Graham
for all his hard work over the last 13 seasons
as a player and then manager and wish him
well for the future. Andy will be assisted
by Gary Whitehead and training will commence
on Tuesday at Tarleton High School at 7pm
and will continue on Thursday. The new season
begins on Saturday 6th August when the first
team travel to Barnoldswick and the reserves
entertain Freckleton. Before that the first
team have 3 ‘friendly matches’
arranged with Marine visiting Station Road
on Wednesday 27th July K.O. 7.30pm. On Saturday
30th July they will entertain Burscough
Richmond Kick off 3pm and finish off with
a trip to BAe Preston on Wednesday 3rd August
K.O. 7pm. |

April - Following their narrow 2-1
defeat at Freckleton the weekend before the
1st team lost again on Saturday 4-1 at home
to Eagley despite finding the net first through
Kevin Kirby. They have now gone 7 games without
a win drawing 4 and losing 3. The reserves
have also slumped lately after losing 6-0
at home to leaders Kirkham they had no match
last Saturday. As the season nears a conclusion
the first team are at home again on Saturday
entertaining Charnock Richard whilst the reserves
travel to Freckleton with both games kicking
off at 3pm. On Monday night the reserves entertain
Thornton Cleveleys and on Tuesday the first
team finish their home matches with a game
against Burnley United. Both matches kick
off at 6.30pm. Following these night matches
we will see the beginning of the 2005 Fermor
Hesketh Medal Competition. The draw once known
and fixtures will be published at the ground. |

March - The first team had two home
matches over the Easter period and drew both
of them 1-1. On Saturday they entertained
Fulwood Amateurs and Robbie Boardman scored
the goal. On Easter Monday in perfect conditions
a large crowd witnessed the local derby against
Fleetwood Hesketh and Paul Rimmer scored the
goal in that match. The reserves were without
a fixture over the weekend. On Saturday the
first team travel to Freckleton whilst the
reserves entertain league champions elect
Kirkham & Wesham at Station Road. Both
games kick off at 3pm |

March - The first team recorded a
1-1 draw away from home for the second week
running, this time at Coppull United with
Andy Cope scoring the goal. Meanwhile the
reserves went down 4-0 at home to Eagley.
This weekend the first team are at home to
Fulwood Amateurs on Saturday with hopefully
a 12.30pm kick off due to the England World
Cup Qualifier. Confirmation will follow once
known. They are in action again on Easter
Monday when they entertain local rivals Fleetwood
Hesketh which kicks off at 3pm. The reserves
have no fixtures over the Easter weekend. |
16th
March - The first team earned a point
in a 1-1 draw at Blackrod Town thanks to a
late equaliser from Adam Thompson. The reserves
entertained second placed Turton at Station
Road and lost by the odd goal in seven with
goals from Mark Harrison, David Hogg and David
Pinckard.
On Saturday
the first team travel to Coppull United whislt
the reserves are at home to Eagley. Both games
kick off at 3pm |

March - Last weekend the first team
were again disappointing losing by the only
goal at home to lowly BAe Barrow Sports Club.
The reserves travelled to league leaders Kirkham
& Wesham but despite a spirited display
they also lost by the only goal of the game.
On Saturday the first team travel to Blackrod
Town whilst the reserves entertain Turton
at Station Road. Both games kick off at 3pm.

February - The first team finally
got back to winning ways with a high scoring
7-4 win at Barnoldswick. Paul Rimmer scored
two, and one each from Chris Tyson, Daniel
Birkby, Robbie Boardman, Barry McKenzie and
an own goal. The reserves drew 3-3 at Station
Road against Norcross & Warbreck with
two goals from Michael Watson and one from
Mark Harrison. Next weekend the first team
are at home to BAE Barrow Sports Club whilst
the reserves travel to Kirkham & Wesham
. Both games kick off at 3pm |

February - The first teams miserable
run continued as they travelled to Cumbria
to face lowly BAe Barrow Sports Club and lost
1-0. The reserves defeated Coppull United
at Station Road 3-1 with two goals from young
Ben Goodson and one from Mark Harrison. The
first team are away again this Saturday as
they travel to Barnoldswick Town whilst the
reserves entertain Norcross & Warbreck
at Station Road. Both games kick off at 3pm. |

February - The first teams match
at Eagley and the reserves home match to Poulton
Town were both postponed due to waterlogged
pitches. This Saturday the first team travel
to Cumbria to play BAe Barrow Sports Club
whilst the reserves entertain Coppull United
at Station Road. Both games kick off at 3pm. |

February - The first team’s
recent poor run continued last Saturday as
they lost 2-1 at Euxton Villa with Paul Rimmer
scoring the goal. The reserves went down by
the only goal of the game at Station Road
against lowly Garstang. This coming Saturday
the first team travel to Eagley whilst the
reserves entertain Poulton Town. Both games
kick off at 3pm. |
31st
January - The first team lost their
local derby 4-2 in front of a large crowd
at Fleetwood Hesketh despite being in a
commanding position against the league leaders,
leading 2-0 with less than half an hour
to play. Following a goalless first half,
Barry McKenzie and a penalty from Paul Rimmer
put them well in front but a disastrous
defensive display late in the game handed
the points to their neighbours. Meanwhile
the reserves won 4-1 at home to Charnock
Richard with three goals from John Ascroft
and one from Mark Harrison. On Saturday
the first team travel to Euxton Villa whilst
the reserves entertain Garstang at Station
Road. Please note that both games revert
back to a 3pm kick off . |
24th
January - The first team bowed
out of the Richardson Cup in their quarter
final tie at Charnock Richard being well
beaten 5-1 with Paul Rimmer scoring the
consolation goal. The reserves match at
Station Road was postponed due to a waterlogged
pitch. On Saturday the first team are away
at league leaders and close neighbours Fleetwood
Hesketh. A large crowd is expected for this
keenly fought local derby which kicks off
at 2pm. The reserves are at home to Charnock
Richard which also kicks off at 2pm. |
17th
January - The first team were well
beaten 4-0 at home to Kirkham & Wesham
last Saturday. However the reserves recorded
a fine 6-1 win away to Blackrod Town with
two goals each from Mark Harrison and Adam
Rostron and one each from Paul Johnson and
David PInckard. This coming Saturday the
first team are at Charnock Richard in the
Richardson Cup quarter final which kicks
off at 1.30pm whilst the reserves are at
home to Kirkham & Wesham in a league
match which kicks off at 2pm. |

January - Following last Saturdays
postponed match at Blackrod Town due to the
adverse weather the first team will be hoping
to return to action with at Station Road against
Kirkham & Wesham on Saturday. The reserves
who were without a fixture at the weekend
are at Blackrod Town on Saturday. Both matches
kick off at 2pm. |

December - The first team fixture
at home to Burnley United was called off on
Saturday morning due to a waterlogged Station
Road. The reserves probably wished their match
was off at Fulwood Amateurs as they were well
beaten 4-1 on a perfect playing surface. Daniel
Birkby scored the consolation goal. The first
team return to action after the holiday break
with a league match at Blackrod Town on Saturday
8th January. The reserves have an extra week
off and they are also at Blackrod. Both games
kick off at 2pm |

December - Last Saturday the first
team lost by the only goal of the game at
Fulwood Amateurs. Meanwhile the reserves threw
away a 2 goal lead at half time in their match
against Tempest United at Station Road. The
visitors hit back early in the second half
with two goals to share the points. Young
Matt Abram scored his first senior goal and
veteran Terry Meadows added the other. On
Saturday the first team entertain Burnley
United at Station Road whilst the reserves
travel to Fulwood Amateurs. Both games kick
off at 2pm. |

December - The first team got back
to winning ways with a narrow 2-1 victory
over Turton at Station Road thanks to goals
from Michael Watson and John Ascroft. John’s
goal was his 100th in senior football in six
seasons, with 84 in the reserves and 16 in
the first team. A remarkable effort considering
he has missed two seasons after breaking his
leg twice! Meanwhile the reserves lost 3-0
at Thornton Cleveleys. This Saturday the first
team travel to Fulwood Amateurs whilst the
reserves entertain Tempest United at Station
Road. Both games kick off at 2pm. |

November - The first team failed
to score for the first time this season as
they went down 2-0 at last years champions
Kirkham & Wesham with both goals coming
late in the game. Meanwhile the reserves came
from behind to score two late goals as they
beat BAC/EE Preston 4-3 at Station Road thanks
to a hatrick from Daniel Birkby and the other
from Adam Rostron. On Saturday the first team
entertain Turton at Station Road whilst the
reserves travel to Thornton Cleveleys. Both
games kick off at 2pm. |
22nd
November - The first team entertained
3rd placed Dalton United at Station Road
last Saturday and after a tough encounter
eventually ran out 4-2 winners thanks to
goals from Robbie Boardman, Wayne Langton,
Barrie McKenzie and John Ascroft. The reserves
travelled to Wyre Villa for their first
round reserve cup tie with a patched up
side. However they successfully went through
to the next round coming from behind to
win 2-1 with goals from David Pinckard and
15 year old substitute Adam Birkby slotting
home a last minute winner. Man of the match
went to another youngster 16 year old Ben
Goodson. On Saturday the first team travel
to champions Kirkham & Wesham whilst
the reserves return to league action entertaining
BAC/EE Preston at Station Road. Both games
kick off at 2pm. |
15th
November - The first team safely
progressed to the 2nd Round of the Richardson
Cup defeating Barnoldswick Town 4-0 at Station
Road thanks to 2 goals from Barry McKenzie
and one each from Lee Gray and Wayne Langton.
The reserves travelled in the opposite direction
to Barnoldswick for a league match and despite
a much better performance than the week
before they went down 3-2 with both goals
being scored by John Ascroft. Next Saturday
the first team entertain Dalton United at
Station Road with a 2pm kick off. Meanwhile
the reserves are at Wyre Villa in the 1st
round of the Reserve Cup which kicks off
at 1.30pm. |

November - With the first team having
no fixture the spotlight fell on the reserves
last Saturday and as is usually the case they
let themselves down badly. Playing away at
bottom side Norcross & Warbreck who had
previously not won and with only one point
to show from their first eleven matches, the
reserves were confident of securing their
first win in four outings. However a woeful
display saw them lose 5-3 with two goals from
John Ascroft and one from Tony Sergeant. On
Saturday the first team entertain Barnoldswick
Town in the Richardson Cup 1st Round whilst
the reserves make the opposite journey to
play their reserves in a league match. The
1st team kick off at 1.30pm whilst the reserves
kick off at 2pm. |

November - The first team returned
to action after last weeks postponement when
the defeated Euxton Villa 2-0 at Station Road.
Sporting their newly sponsored kit courtesy
of the clubs main sponsor Hazeldene Foods
two second half goals from Lee Gray and Wayne
Langton secured the points. The reserves were
without a fixture and the first team are also
without a fixture next Saturday due to their
opponents Barnoldswick Town being involved
in a West Riding County F.A. tie. The reserves
return to action with a league match at Norcross
& Warbreck which kicks off at 2pm. |

October - With the 1st team’s
match at Station Road being postponed due
the waterlogged pitch and the reserves being
without a fixture it was a blank weekend all
round. The first team are scheduled to be
at home on Saturday with a 3pm kick off when
they entertain Euxton Villa. The reserves
should have been at Wyre Villa in the 1st
round of the reserve cup but they will have
another weekend off due to the re-arrangement
of Wyre Villa’s first team being at
home in the Lancashire Cup tie which was postponed
last Saturday. |

October - Last Saturday the first
team squandered a two goal lead to give visitors
Coppull United a share of the points at Station
Road. After a goalless first half Barry McKenzie
volleyed home to open the scoring and when
Lee Gray came off the bench to add a second
the points looked safe but the visitors hit
back with two goals in the final seven. Meanwhile
the reserves went down 2-1 at Eagley with
David Hogg scoring the goal. On Saturday the
first team entertain local rivals Fleetwood
Hesketh which kicks off at 3pm. The reserves
have no fixture. |

October - The first and reserve teams
were both away last Saturday and both suffered
their worst defeats of the season so far.
The First team were at Charnock Richard and
went down 5-2 with goals from Daniel Birkby
and Barry McKenzie. The reserves travelled
to Turton and they lost 4-1 with John Ascroft
scoring the consolation. This Saturday the
first team entertain Coppull United at Station
Road whilst the reserves travel to Eagley.

October - The first team bowed out
of the Lancashire Shield losing 2-1 after
extra time at Accrington based Whinney Hill.
Daniel Birkby scored the goal in a disappointing
team display. The reserves drew 2-2 at Station
Road against leaders Barnoldswick Town. David
Hogg and John Ascroft scored the goals which
keeps them in 3rd spot. On Saturday both teams
are away - the first team at Charnock Richard
and the reserves at Turton. Both games kick
off at 3pm. |
27th
September - Last Saturday the 1st
team with several players missing through
injury travelled to Turton who had previously
won all five of their league games. Nevertheless
an excellent rearguard performance saw them
come away with the points with a 2-1 win
with an early goal from John Ascroft and
in the final minute the winner from Chris
Tyson.
Meanwhile
the reserves moved up into 3rd place following
their narrow 2-1 win over Blackrod Town
at Station Road thanks to Paul Johnson scoring
after 5 minutes and a late winner smashed
home by David Hogg.
On
Saturday the 1st team travel to Accrington
to play Whinney Hill in the Lancashire Shield
whilst the reserves entertain current leaders
Barnoldswick Town at Station Road. The first
team kick off at 2pm and the reserves 3pm. |

September - Following last weeks
5-1 win over Lancs County Staff in the 1st
round of the Lancashire Cup the first team
returned to league action last Saturday at
Station Road with Freckleton the visitors
who ran out 3-2 winners. Goals were scored
by Daniel Birkby and Lee Gray. Meanwhile the
reserves who had won 6-3 last week at home
to Freckleton after being 2-0 down at the
interval also lost 3-2 away at Coppull United.
Mark Harrison got both goals. On Saturday
the first team travel to Turton whilst the
reserves entertain Blackrod Town at Station
Road. Both games kick off at 3pm. |

September - Last Saturday the first
team entertained Wyre Villa at Station Road
and won by the only goal of the game scored
by defender Adam Thompson just before half
time. The reserves had no fixture. Next Saturday
the first team are at Preston & District
League team Lancashire County Staff in the
first round of the Lancashire Shield. The
match kicks off at 2pm at Preston Sports Arena.
Meanwhile the reserves are at home to Freckleton
which kicks off at 3pm. |

August - Following their enforced
break due to the weather the first team returned
to action last Saturday as they travelled
to Burnley United. However due to unavailablities
they had to make several changes and the home
side took advantage to run out 3-1 winners.
Barry McKenzie scored the goal. Meanwhile
the reserves travelled to Poulton Town who
were the current leaders. After half an hour
it looked likely they would remain at the
top with a 2-0 lead. Veteran Terry Meadows
had other ideas as he scored a great goal
and then 3 minutes later David Hogg equalised.
Two more goals in the second half, another
from Meadows and the other from Mark Harrison
sealed the victory. On Saturday the 1st team
entertain Wyre Villa at Station Road with
a 3pm kick off. The reserves have no fixture |

August - Due to heavy rain the 1st
teams matches at home to Fulwood Amateurs
last Saturday and Charnock Richard on Tuesday
had to be postponed. However the reserves
were in action last Saturday when they got
a point from a 2-2 draw at Tempest United
with goals from John Ascroft and Wayne Langton.
On Monday night they travelled to Garstang
and won 3-1 with goals from Wayne Langton,
David Hogg and Mark Harrison. The first team
will be looking to get back playing again
on Saturday as they visit Burnley United.
The reserves are also away at Poulton Town.
Both games kick off at 3pm. |

August - Following their 3-1 defeat
on Saturday at Dalton United the first team
returned to winning ways with a resounding
4-1 win at home to Blackrod Town last night.
Barrie McKenzie scored a hat trick with the
other coming from Robbie Boardman. The night
before the reserves followed up their point
in a 2-2 draw at Charnock Richard with a 2-1
win at home to last seasons champions Fulwood
Amateurs. John Ascroft scored from the penalty
spot and Eion Bond got the second. On Saturday
the 1st team entertain Fulwood Amateurs at
Station Road whilst the reserves travel to
West Houghton to play Tempest United. Both
games kick off at 3pm. |

August - The first team travelled
to Wyre Villa on Tuesday evening and came
away with the 3 points thanks to the only
goal of the game coming from Robbie Boardman
early in the second half. A little later he
found himself being sent off after upsetting
the referee but the ten men held out and substitute
Paul Johnson even missed a late penalty. They
will be hoping to continue with their 100%
start to the season when they travel to Dalton
United on Saturday whichs kicks off at 3pm.
Meanwhile the reserves began their season
with a 3-2 defeat at BAC/EE Preston. Despite
going into the interval 2-1 ahead with goals
from John Ascroft and Eion Bond the home side
rallied in the second half to grab the points.
Tomorrow the reserves travel to Charnock Richard
which kicks off at 3pm. |

August 2004 - Hesketh Bank first
team began with 3 points from their first
premier league match of the new season following
last years promotion. Two second half goals
from a Daniel Birkby penalty and young debutant
substitute Eion Bond without reply was enough
to see off Barnoldswick Town. The next match
is on Tuesday when they travel to Wyre Villa
with a 6.45pm kick off. Meanwhile the reserves
begin their season tonight with a short trip
to BAC/EE Preston which also kicks off at
6.45pm |
15th
July 2004 - The club is deeply
saddened to annouce the death of its Chairman.
Peter Leigh died suddenly in his hotel room
in London were he was staying whilst atteding
a conference. Peter leaves his wife Sue
and sons Martin and Gary. The funeral service
is to be held at Southport Crematorium on
Wednesday 21st July at 11am. |

July 2004 - The
AGM of the FC is to be held on Tuesday 27th
July at Hesketh Bank Cricket Club Pavilion
commencing at 8pm. |

way at 3pm on Saturday 7th August with the
first team at home to Barnoldswick Town in
the Premier Division following last seasons
promotion. Then on Tuesday night they travel
to the fylde to play Wyre Villa whichs kicks
off at 6.45pm. Meanwhile the reserves begin
their campaign on Monday 9th August with a
trip to BAC/EE Preston whichs kicks off at
6.45pm. All
the three senior teams begin pre-season
training on Monday 5th July at Victoria
Park in Southport and continues on Wednesday
7th at Meols Park Southport beginning at
7pm. All of last years players are invited
to attend and any new players are more than
welcome. |
