Hesketh-with-Becconsall Parish Council A
message from MAUREEN BALDWIN
MAUREEN BALDWIN
INDEPENDENT
Dear
Voter,
Firstly,
I would like to take this opportunity to tell you
a little about myself.
Married,
lived in the village for 30 years with my husband
Terry, have twin grandsons. Worked for HSBC before
retirement
Qualified
as a Guide Leader in 1965 and ran the same Guide
unit for over 40 years, gaining experience of committee
work through holding office as a District, Division
and County Commissioner.
Helped
with running the Village Hall library until its
closure then became Treasurer for the Village Hall
Committee. Currently working with other agencies
to upgrade both Village Hall buildings and the site.
In
July 2006 working with the District Youth and Community
Service and others I helped open a Youth Club at
the Village Hall which is now well established with
an increasing membership.
Served
on the Parish Plan Steering Committee since it reformed
in February 2007, now head up the Community Facilities
Action Group; a small group interested in implementing
some of the things you wished for when you completed
the Parish Plan Questionnaire.
Secondly,
as a Parish Councillor I would like to see Party Politics
kept firmly out of Local Government. I believe that
all elected members of the Parish Council should work
together as a team for the benefit of the community.
ACCOUNTABILITY
As the Parish has the highest precept in West Lancashire,
I would like to see all decisions regarding the
spending of Parish Funds on large scale or expensive
projects open to public consultation.
YOUTH
MATTERS
The Village still has a problem with Youth antisocial
behaviour, drinking and drug use. I would like to
see the Parish Council encouraging the Youth Action
Group to set up a Youth Council to work with local
councillors and outside agencies to address this
problem.
DEVELOPMENT
AND TRAFFIC
Over a 1,000 houses have been built in Hesketh Bank
since 1972 putting a considerable strain on the
infrastructure and increasing the number of vehicles
using the roads. I would like to see a halt to further
housing development and, notwithstanding the proposed
Northern Parishes Relief Road (Green Lane Link),
consultation on improving the flow of traffic along
Hesketh Lane and the bottleneck at the Hesketh Lane/Church
Road junction.
PARISH
PLAN
I would like to see the Parish Council take seriously
the views YOU expressed in YOUR responses to the
Parish Plan Questionnaire and work constructively
on the areas that caused you the most concern.
PLEASE
USE YOUR VOTE AND MAKE IT COUNT
